Blossom de Cafe (Poway)

Blossom de Cafe has closed.  It will be missed.

mmm-yoso!!!, a food blog, is being written by Cathy today.  Kirk is busy.

The Mister and I were driving on Poway Road, looking for a breakfast spot.  Across the street from the North Park Produce location, we saw this signage and stopped.  Formerly a Bank, the large interior with what looks like former offices with doors and windows removed has open rooms and areas which could be set up for a small, private party as well as a playroom for children.  The interior space is efficiently used and (since the building had been a bank) there is a drive through window.

After we were home, I did some research.  Blossom de Cafe is locally owned, family run and opened in February 2020.  This is another survivor of Covid.

Simple, delightful and a refreshing change. 648E7BA3-E1C6-4319-B5BC-45DEF613B509 The maple croffle ($4.80).  Simply toasted with maple syrup.  A great breakfast idea.
8056BF4D-1AEB-47D8-8C29-2F4E9355FFC6 We also ordered a bacon omelet sandwich (8.99).  A better quality, thick white bread filled with a cheesy omelet/scramble and plenty of bacon made this an easily shareable sandwich.
240A9956-1E0C-4BEA-98C5-152FC029F41A There are coffees, teas, boba drinks, lattes, a great selection of beverages along with (Bingsu) desserts. Bowls and other lunch choices are also available-we will be trying out more of the menu.  Soon.

  1. I keep meaning to try this place out! I’m glad they are surviving since they opened just before the pandemic. It had been an empty storefront for a few years; prior to the restaurant, it was store selling scrapbook supplies. I think the scrapbook store used the old bank vault for storage.

  2. Try it, Sandy! I’m thinking the bulgogi is really good, as well as anything else on the menu. There are many prior bank buildings which have converted to other, unique uses.
It was, Kat. We will buy a dozen croissants at Costco and sometimes don’t really want yet another sandwich so end up making croutons. The whole idea of a croffle makes sense.

  3. Everything looks good here, Soo. Will be in the neighborhood soon and lunch will be a priority. Also thinking stopping in for desserts on a hot day-a former bank building probably has great air conditioning.

  4. I will put this on my list to visit. I was just talking to a student about North Park Produce and mentioned that I haven’t been to the one in Poway. This will be another reason to go (kill two birds…). The croffle is a good idea!

  5. The Mister and I have always tried to think of ways to use up the last few croissants from the Costco dozen, cc and this is perfect! The menu is extensive enough and you will find something you will like. We’ve been to every North Park Produce store and this ‘neighborhood’ seems the most interesting.

  6. Oh, no! We drove past a few months ago and it was open. They seemed to be doing so well, especially with the pandemic and all. Thanks for letting me know.
