I know it’s a day late…but I’m hoping everyone had a great Thanksgiving.
We did this year, what we’ve done for the last several years….started Thanksgiving Day off with some Dim Sum. I’ve already posted on Pearl back in November of last year, and even did our Thanksgiving Dim Sum there last year. So I won’t bore you with descriptions, just photos.
I may have missed a dish or two, and no Peking Duck 2 ways for $18, this year. All told, it came out to $30. Took a few laps around the path in back of the restaurant to help burn some of this off.
We hope everyone had a safe and fun Holiday!
Oooh, that looks a heck of a lot more yummy than my Thanksgiving dinner this year! As you’ll see from my blog, I had a Turkey Day full of good-will and community and companionship … but with food that, well, made it real easy for me to stay on my weight loss regimen. ๐ Oh well–I’ll have to assuage my craving for roast turkey skin sometime down the line when things calm down, but at least I feel emotionally and spiritually sated. Happy T-Day!
Very skillfully made dumplings. Someone in that kitchen knows how to make it look all purty.
looks like some of the dim sum was put under a salamander broiler or was brushed over with a propane torch.
Ummmm. Dim Sum. Do you still think Pearl is the best in SD?
I had a more conventional T-Day, but went over to Paul & Joanie’s (you met them at Ba Ren). She had deep fried turkey and a roasted bird from Dartagnian (sp?). She and others did a wonderful range of sides; it was the most gourmet Thanksgiving in my memory. After tasting everything on my plate, my least favorite was what I made – that’s never happened before. Hope all other Mmm-yoso readers had good eats and good company for the holiday.
Happy Belated Thanksgiving Kirk!
I like your idea of exercise – few laps around the restaurant, that’s exactly what I do! Burns away ALL the fat and most of all, any possible guilt! hehe ๐
hope you guys had a good holiday down there in SD!
i like those big ass turkey legs that K bbqed…
every time i see turkey legs it reminds me of economics…. demand and supply on the legs VS turkey breast… price = $1 lb with no elasticity… dork! ;p
*droooooooooooooooool*
*gurgle*
*choke*

Happy Turkey Day!

Holy crud! There’s a garden. That’s look spectacular! Is this a push cart type restaurant or made to order type?
Hey DCCF- Those big ass turkey legs were excellent, and right now The Mister is brining a whole turkey and has plans for Sunday Dinner (along with Monday lunch and dinner)…so I’ll let him. The smoking process was fun.
Hi mizducky – Bummer. But sounds like you made the best of it.
Hi PS – Happy Thanksgiving. I think Pearl does the best Dim Sum in the greater San Diego area.
Hi RONW – If you mean the shrimp and chive dumplings….they are pan fried – sort of like pot stickers.
Hi Ed – Sounds like you had a great Thanksgiving(as usual). Hope work hasn’t got you too bogged down.
Hi Kathy – I’d have to take more than a few laps to burn this off! ;o) But I thought I’d at least make a very weak effort.
Hi DCCF – Happy Thanksgiving, man! Hope all is well.
Hi CP – “Silence”? Fron Da’ Panda? No way……. Hope your Thanksgiving was fun.
Hi Andy – Pearl is a cart style Dim Sum restaurant, and while it really doesn’t hold a candle to any of the Dim Sum houses in the SGV, the people have always been really nice, and the dim sum decent. The area behind the restauranr is a little park…kinda strange, because that building beyind the park is a Courtyard by Marriott.
Hi Cathy – Happy turkey day! Glad to know you’re on the mend.
Happy Belated Thanksgiving, Kirk! It looks like you had a nice one.
I caught the stomach flu from my niece and I’ve been out of commission for a few days, but at least I got to sleep a lot.
Hi Howie – What a bummer. I hope you have the chance to make up for lost time!
