I had been told of this a while back – you can actually get Portuguese Sausage (Da’ Hawaii Kine – OK!) here in San Diego. Though it’s not Purity Brand, which is my favorite; in a pinch Redondo’s will do. For those that don’t know, back "home" in Hawaii, this is a staple – even them "Golden Arches" places sell Portuguese Sausage, Eggs, and Rice!
Orient Bowl Market on Convoy; formerly First Korean Market, stocks Redondo Portuguese Sausage ($3.99) and Hot Dogs ($3.79).
I know, that’s kind of expensive, but if you need it, you need it!
This is the same strip mall North of Jasmine Restaurant, that Dumpling Inn is located in. I’ve also seen S & S Saimin on a previous visit. All items are frozen, but I’ve had the Portuguese Sausage and it tasted ok.
Hi Kirk,
WOW! I didn’t know that you could get Redondo’s in SD. That’s great. I like their hot dogs because they remind me of the ones previously made by the Maui Meat Co. (sadly no longer around).
Hey Reid – Wow, Maui Hotdogs – they were attached in links and the red dye came off on the rice and bun! My Mom was from Maui, so I loved this stuff. The thing I missed the most was a Chow Fun place in Lahaina – they made awesome Chowfun – had pieces of french fries in it!
I never had a chance to try Maui Hotdogs, but I’ve become a big fan of Redondo hotdogs and sausages. I’ll keep my eyes open for Purity Brand– not sure I’ve had those.
Hi Alan – Thanks for stopping by. Growing up in Hawaii, I was indoctrinated with a great amount of “brand loyalty” – thus in our household it was always Purity Brand Portuguese Sausage, and so until this very day, Purity is my first choice.
KIRK,
MY BROTHER LIVES IN SAN DIEGO AND CHECKED OUT THAT STORE YOU MENTIONED…I WANTED HIM TO BRING SOME REDONDO’S TO ME (I LIVE IN THE EAST COAST) FOR A RECENT VISIT, AND GUESS WHAT?? HE SAW PURITY SAUSAGE AND BROUGHT ME SOME. SO, JUST WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW THAT THEY DO HAVE PURITY SAUSAGE THERE NOW!!! ENJOY.
Hi CYN – Wow all that uppercase…you must really be stoked. I did a follow-up post, where I mentioned the Redondo’s:

And poi too!
Does anyone know if they sell redondo’s product in Indiana? or at least close by
