Just a quick post for today.
Ichiro's Closes:
In my last post on Tadokoro, "FOY" Junichi mentioned that Ichiro has closed and their last day of business was January 30th. So, I decided to drop by during regular business hours and while there was no indication of a sale or change of business, the place was closed.
Thanks to "FOY" Sage for sending me the link to Ichiro's Facebook closing announcement.
The restaurant has a long history here in San Diego, I believe of 36 years! It's the end of an era.

Ramen Ryoma (Clairemont Mesa) is closed:
I saw this one a while back…..seeing no signage on the place I made a real quick turn into the parking lot.
While the other locations in Hillcrest and Pacific Beach are still open; it seems that this location couldn't make a go of it. I believe they closed back in November, another casualty of Covid.

Thanks Sage! I updated my post! I can always count on all the “Friends of Yoso” to come thru.
sad when a long time establishment closes
Years ago, Ichiro’s was the first “real” sushi visit where we sat at the bar. It was the first time I had toro, and was hooked. I don’t think we ever went back, and I’m sorry to hear that they have closed.
Wow, Ichiro is old school Japanese for the San Diego area, probably one of the first asian restaurants in the Convoy area. I remember in college or just out of college, it was too expensive to go to regularly and had to go to the inexpensive udon/curry place (wish I could remember the name) that used to be in the O’briens strip mall. Great run but always a bummer to see a family restaurant closing, especially not on their terms.
Shirahama Sushi just sold. Not sure when their last day is. Owner wanted to sell and retire for a while.
What a sad news day.
That’s too bad, never been to either but unfortunately it’s a sign of the times.
Really sad Kat!
Like the end of an era Sandy.
One of the first places I ate at back in the 90’s when I was doing consulting here Jack.
I had heard that Junichi. BTW, I have an interesting “story” about Shirahama for you….one of these days.
Very sad Soo.
Definitely a sign of the times Jason.
Hippo’s was the name of the curry place. We will miss Ichiro’s as well as so many other local places.
Seems like a lot of these older mom-and-pop type places are closing Cathy. I’m sure that the owners are tired and just want to retire.
The place Jack is thinking of was Otemoyan. First went there in 1984 and it was run by three women.
