iHOP- The International House Of Pancakes

mmm-yoso!!! is indeed a blog about food.  Kirk is away and Cathy is writing these blog posts.  This post is about food.

So, anyhow.  I have always worked in professions in which tipping is not the norm.  However, I have a few clients who sometimes give me gift cards.  I've mentioned in a few posts that I do not regift.  In this case, I believe I was the recipient of a re-gifted card.

IMG_6199IMG_6199IMG_6199 IMG_6199IMG_6199IMG_6199 Here is the breakfast menu from a few months ago. Lunch and dinner is also served here.

IMG_3325IMG_3320 Well, look at this from the breakfast menu- avocado toast, which comes with two eggs any style and a side of fresh fruit (or hash browns) ($13.49).  A good quality multigrain toast topped with freshly sliced avocado and roasted cherry tomatoes.  This was a surprisingly tasty and filling breakfast.

IMG_3325IMG_3325  The Mister chose a Waffle Combo ($16.49).  A strawberry cheesecake topped Belgian waffle with two eggs (over easy), two sausage (or bacon) and hash browns.  I liked the waffle (plain).  The batter was crisp on the exterior and had a malt/vanilla flavored fluffy interior. The strawberries were very flavorful-see the pink (not white) inner part?  The sausage was standard with a nicely crisped skin and the hash browns were not watery and also had a good crisp.

A couple of very nice breakfasts.

  1. Those prices for breakfast are kinda blowing my mind — seems like it wasn’t all that long ago that you could get a decent breakfast at these chains for under $10. I just looked at the Denny’s site and with the exception of their “Everyday Value Slam” for $7.19, they’re in the same price neighborhood as IHOP — $15 and up. Have you ever been to Kono’s in PB, Cathy? I just checked and even their most expensive items — Big Breakfast #1 and #1 are less than $9. Plus can’t beat the view!

  2. Even though iHOP is a very large restaurant chain, the food is thoughtfully prepared and quite nice. We would consider stopping back in even without a gift card, kat.

  3. Blows my mind that a full breakfast now costs around $15 plus more for coffee/orange juice. Doesn’t seem all that long ago that the price was under $10. Have you ever been to Kono’s in PB, Cathy, down by Crystal Pier? Great breakfasts for a reasonable price and can’t beat the view!

  4. The Mister and I met as poor college students and have always enjoyed partaking in lower priced meals, Peter; hence using the gift card for this breakfast out. iHOP is consistent and I felt that the avocado toast had to be tried. Kono’s is great- and still opens at 7- we can go there before the summer and avoid the crowds.
