In my last post on Izakaya Sakura, I mentioned doing a revisit to the three places I’ve posted on the most in the 21 years this blog has been in existence. So, I went and did some tallying and was surprised at what was number 2. The place I thought would be second was actually third! My second most posted on place was 777 Noodle House! Go Figure! I’ve done 30 posts on 777! How can that be? 777 has “only” been around for 16 years! Well, ok…so I was off to City Heights and 777.

777 opens at 8am daily, so I stopped by for a Sunday “breakfast”. I was the only customer in the restaurant for my entire visit.

The same two folks were working….the gentleman who always calls me “sir” and one of the sisters, who smiled and told me “long time no see…..”. Yeah, I guess since Covid, I really don’t get up here as often anymore.
There’s basically one item I order here.

Which is still priced at $13.97……I just saw an avocado toast at Super Bloom going for $16….so this seems like a bargain. Still, the last time I had the Hu Tieu Nam Vang Kho here, it was disappointing, so I was really wondering how things would be on this visit.
Well, my suspicions should have been allayed as what I had righted the ship…or should I say bowl.

There’s still a ton of ground pork in this these days, but they got the noodles right this time. Which were nicely cooked once mixed well with the sauce at the bottom of the bowl.

And the shrimp…as “FOY” YY mentions is always nicely cooked and plump.

The sauce is nice and savory, soy sauce…seems like oyster sauce, a hint of sweet.
The blanched bean sprouts goes well when mixed in….that’s the key, getting this nicely mixed.

And of course there’s that pork hock in soup.

Yes, these days the pork hock is smaller, but this time around the broth wasn’t msg laden….it had some nice savory tones. I scrapped the meat off the bone and added to the bowl….it was decent.
As was the whole meal….it was good to know, that a place I’ve visited so many times over the years delivered…..
