So here are a couple of things that good “FOYs” recently mentioned to me.
Dubu San Diego Tofu Company Going into the old Ajisen Space:
In the comments of my most recent “where on the road” post, Elle mentioned that Dubu San Diego was taking over the old Ajisen space on Clairemont Mesa. I needed to go to 99 Ranch Market so I passed by the location and the signage is up.
Elle also mentioned that their Rancho Bernardo location has already opened. You can read more on their Instagram. It looks like they have a variety of dishes….which is good, since I don’t know about you….but I’m not really in the mood for Soon Dubu with this current heat wave!

Banh Mi Express Temporarily Closed Until August 4th:
A couple of weeks back Sage sent me an email letting me know that Banh Mi Express was temporarily closed until August 4th. I always appreciate these emails as with the warm weather, Banh Mi is definitely on the list. I stopped by and took a look on my way to a different sandwich spot recently.
And yes, they are temporarily closed….does not state a reason though.

We ate at Dubu in RB two nights ago. Still soft launch and about half the menu was available. The place was packed even in soft launch. Panchan was pretty good, not great. Dumplings were pretty good. Army base kimchi stew was fantastic!

Not sure if you’ve heard of this chain but TigaWok (apparently AJ/Robot cooks making chinese food) opened up in La Jolla Village (near where the Kebab Shop and Crumbl are). Tried it Saturday, wasn’t that impressed but I might give it another shot since I think it literally just opened, and the food has at least some non ABCDE stuff there.
Yes, I know Tigawok replaced Voqozo which closed so quickly I never had a chance to visit Loren. It looks like one of those “concepts” so I’m not really in a rush to check it out unless I’m actually in that strip mall.
My daughter is a server at dubu RB so everyone be nice. We ate there once. Expensive but pretty good.
I’m hoping the folks who read and comment on our little blog are very nice folks RD!
RD, service was great, especially considering soft launch mode, where I usually see chaos. We had numerous people come and check on us and it was a full house. Good luck to your daughter!
