Happy New Year!

Happy 2020 to you all!

Not much to see here that's different from previous years. Like the past fourteen New Years Eves, I started my day by checking out the Osechi at Nijiya, Mitsuwa, and Marukai.

These days it seems that most folks preorder their Osechi. Still, traditions die hard……

And in them of traditions; like we've done the last 2 NYEs, we had an early dinner at Et Voilà!

Didn't take many photos as we just kind of enjoyed the evening…..

An enjoyable meal overall.

As for today…well, I made the Missus Red Cooked Wagyu Shortribs, while I did my usual, traditional soba.

And so we turn the page on another year……

And we'd like to send out our best wishes for a wonderful and delici-yoso 2020!

Happy New Year!

  1. Thank CC! Hope you have a wonderful year. Looking forward to some wonderful new posts as well.
Thanks Lynn! Hope you have a fantastic year.

  2. Happy New Year Kirk!! I see where you bought your osechi from one of the Japanese markets. Is it not your style to make your own? And I saw your pic about your soba. But I was wondering if you made ozoni too? Man, I really miss those types of foods. Especially when I lived in Hawaii, getting together for the New Year’s feasts was something to behold!

  3. Happy New Year Alan! hope you have a fantastic year. These days I sometimes make certain Osechi type dishes; but it’s only the Missus and I, so it kinda doesn’t make much sense. I do sometimes make ozoni….though the Missus isn’t a big fan:
